It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly link up hosted by Kathryn at Book Date . Then, Jen at Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee at Unleashing Readers decided to give it a focus on kid’s literature. This is a chance for bloggers to recap their weeks of reading and share their plans for the next reading adventures they will take. Visit the host blogs for a list of great blogs participating and a whole bunch of titles to add to your to-read lists.
Books I Finished:
I highly recommend this book and the prequel Dear Martin. Both books highlight important social justice issues. I could hardly put this one down.
I just finished this one this morning. This is the sixteenth book in the Pendergast series. Honestly, I am still reading this series mostly because I invested so much time in it so far. The characters are still incredibly interesting and the mysteries are pretty intriguing, but I am just not sure if I like the books exactly. Suspending my disbelief has been harder and harder in the last couple books.
Books I’m Reading:
I read about The Agency series on a Slice of Life post. I don’t exactly know why I hadn’t heard of this series before. I am excited to read it. So far, I am hooked. I didn’t make much progress in this book this week, so I am ready to dive into it.
What’s Next:
I am excited for a few library books that came in off my hold list. I am also continuing with the Slice of Life challenge and I have parent teacher conferences this week, so I am not sure how much reading will get done. I hope everyone has a great reading week!
What are you reading this week? I would love to hear from you in the comments!
Thanks for sharing this Andrea! I decided to give it a go myself and just now posted my first IMWAYR blog post. I have GOT to make time for Dear Martin at some point — it’s been on my TBR for awhile and I just haven’t made my way around to it yet.
I finally got my review of Dear Martin up today, and I’m glad to hear that the sequel is a worthy one! I’ll try to get it crammed in soon. The rest of these books sound great as well—thanks for the great post!
These sound really good! I’m especially intrigued by A Spy in the House. What a gorgeous cover!
I have Dear Martin and Dear Justyce on my TBR..
since I hit send before I finished, another comment…
This is the first I have heard of the Pendergast series, and 16 books is definitely a big number. Cool that you stuck with it
I LOVED both Dear Martin and Dear Justyce. I was nervous that book #2 wouldn’t be as good, but WOW was I moved by it. Every year I think that maybe this will be my year to dive into the SoL challenge. But I’m totally missing it again this year. I enjoy seeing what my friends are posting, though. I hope you have a wonderful reading week, Andrea!
Like Shaye, I too loved Dear Martin and Dear Justyce. I appreciated her note at the end of Dear Justice when she talks about her research for this novel. I think it broke my heart a bit more to learn that Quan and his story is a composite of all the young incarcerated people she met. His story of early trauma should not be so commonplace.
